Solid Waste Treatment

The company carries out waste treatment, wastewater and atmosphere emissions under quality Standards that adhere to the guidelines by do Rio Grande do Sul regulating Environment Agencies.

The solid residues generated by the Tramontina companies situated in the South Brazilian Mountain Region (Sierra Gaucha) go to the Industrial Waste Central. One of the company’s units, Tramontina S.A. Cutlery, is the manager of this Central. The waste processing results in junk, hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The recyclable waste is sent for triage, where selection and packing takes place, according to type and designed for future tradings.

As for environment hazard representing waste, they are dumped in the Hazardous Industrial Waste Landfills, whereas the non-toxic ones are placed in the Class II Landfill. The building of the landfills follows engineering projects so that they do not offer any hazard to the environment. Presently, the new larger landfills are being implemented, as a continuation of the Tramontina concern with nature conservation for the next 120 years.
